“ELZUBI to Al-Dustour: The Agricultural Chamber and the Farmers’ Union, Complementary Roles to Save Jordanian Agriculture.”

“Today, Jordan’s agricultural sector stands at a crossroads: either to continue in a cycle of institutional fragmentation and weak governance, or to enter a new phase built on institutional reform and role integration. Restructuring the General Union of Farmers and establishing a national Agricultural Chamber are essential steps to strengthen organization, unify efforts, and ensure the sector’s resilience and sustainability.”

“ELZUBI to Sawt Al-Shaab: Why Does Jordan Need to Organize Its Production Now?”

“Today, organizing agricultural production is no longer a deferred option but an urgent necessity to restore the standing of the agricultural sector. What is required is the restructuring of the General Union of Farmers to serve as a genuine umbrella capable of defending farmers’ interests and organizing them within collective production and marketing frameworks. In parallel, a specialized Agricultural Chamber must be established to focus on marketing and trade representation, working in full complementarity with the Union under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. Furthermore, it is essential to develop accurate national databases, activate contractual planning between farmers, processors, and traders, and establish centers for sorting, packaging, and cooling to ensure product quality. Implementing this approach through a strong institutional framework, based on public–private partnership, will restore agriculture’s vital role in the national economy, ensure resource sustainability, and increase farmers’ incomes.”
