Elzubi to Al-Ghad: Can Accelerating the Operation of the “Regional Food Security Observatory” Transform Jordan into a Regional Data Hub?

Elzubi to Al Ghadو Jordan’s Regional Food Security Observatory: A Data Hub in the Making
Amman – Dr. Fadel Elzubi, international food security expert, highlighted that accelerating the establishment of the Regional Food Security Observatory could transform Jordan into a leading regional data hub.
He noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s initiative positions Jordan as a platform for advanced data collection, analysis, and reporting to support decision makers across the Mashreq. Backed by regional ministers and FAO, the observatory will provide real time indicators, early warning systems, and cloud based databases linked to national and international centers.
“This observatory is a strategic opportunity,” Elzubi said. “It strengthens Jordan’s resilience against food crises, supports evidence based policies, attracts global partnerships, and enhances the Kingdom’s leadership in shaping regional food security strategies.”
Expected benefits include improved crisis response, greater transparency, stronger regional cooperation, and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
