Dr. Fadel ElZubi is a distinguished international expert in food security, rural development, and post-crisis recovery.
With over 28 years of experience across eight countries, he has led high-level initiatives with the United Nations, the World Bank, and regional institutions to strengthen resilience, empower rural communities, and develop national strategies for sustainable agriculture and food systems.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Mosul in Iraq, and both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Crisis Management from the University of the Pacific in California. His academic background is complemented by decades of field leadership, policy advisory, and emergency coordination.
From 1999 to 2019,
Dr. ElZubi served as Head of Mission for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Iraq, playing a central role in navigating one of the region’s most complex food security landscapes. His contributions extended across conflict-affected and post-crisis environments, where he designed and led programs focused on food relief, agricultural recovery, and capacity building.
Dr. ElZubi has served as a strategic advisor to the Arab League, the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education, ICCROM, and the World Bank. He was instrumental in crafting the Arab Food Security Strategy and contributed directly to the Jordan Economic Modernization Vision 2033 and the National Road Map 2030.
Currently,
Dr. ElZubi is a board member at Jordan’s National Agriculture Research Center (NARC) and continues to provide high-level guidance to regional governments and international organizations. He is also a frequent media contributor, speaker, and author of several influential publications on food systems, resilience, and agricultural development.
