Water Security and the National Carrier in Jordan

I participated in a specialized symposium held at the University of Jordan / Center for Strategic Studies in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, entitled “Water Security in Jordan and the National Carrier Project: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Future of Sustainability”. The event was attended by a number of ministers, dignitaries, professors from the University of Jordan, as well as experts and stakeholders in the water sector.

In my intervention, I emphasized the importance of viewing water as a fundamental pillar of national security, and the necessity of integrating the National Carrier Project within the comprehensive plan for water resources in the Kingdom, in a way that ensures sustainability and strengthens self-reliance. I stressed that water security is not limited to increasing available quantities, but rather constitutes an integrated system that begins with protecting every drop of rain and ends with safeguarding resources for future generations. The National Carrier Project represents a strategic step to move beyond crisis management and transition toward water stability.
