The drivers of rising food prices can be grouped into three practical bundles:
- climatic supply shocks,
- logistical and geopolitical bottlenecks,
- and policy and trade decisions.
The first is temporary and seasonal. The second and third are structural—and far more dangerous—because they do not fade with the passing of a season.
