ELZUBI to Al-Ghad Newspaper: A Strategic Plan for Agricultural Scientific Research

International food security expert Dr. Fadel ELZUBI stated that the plan being developed by the National Agricultural Research Center aims to strengthen the role of agricultural research in supporting sustainable development and achieving food security in Jordan.

ELZUBI added that this plan comes in response to the growing challenges facing the agricultural sector, whether in terms of limited natural resources or the need for innovation to address climate change and ensure the sustainability of production.

He noted that, at the same time, the Higher Council for Science and Technology is about to finalize the National Scientific Research Priorities Strategy up to 2034, which includes a dedicated chapter on agriculture, food security, veterinary sciences, water, environment, and innovation. He explained that this national direction reflects an increasing recognition of the importance of these vital sectors in safeguarding Jordan and enhancing its capacity to confront future crises.

He further emphasized: “This highlights the necessity of close coordination between the National Agricultural Research Center and the Higher Council for Science and Technology, to ensure integration of efforts and avoid any duplication or conflict in research programs. Coordination is not limited to setting priorities, but also extends to implementation mechanisms and resource allocation, in order to achieve the greatest possible impact on the ground.”

ELZUBI  concluded that such cooperation opens the door to optimal utilization of financial and human resources, strengthens the ability of research institutions to transform ideas into practical solutions that serve farmers, producers, and society as a whole, fosters a culture of innovation and joint work, and ensures that the outcomes of scientific research become part of a comprehensive national system that supports public policies and meets Jordan’s needs in the coming decades.
